A new consumer lightweight wide angle lens announced today along with E520.

I wonder how much the lens will be £300?

It will need to be competetive, now that sigma has released the 10-20mm in 4/3rds.

Expected RRP is $599, seems a bit steep!

But that is the dollar price... If the usual 1:1 conversion rate applies then it will be a bit steep but if the conversion is rather closer to the real exchange rate then I guess the street price should be £300-350 tops. Still a bit pricey but then OEM kit usually does attract a premium.

Olympus tend to be on the 1:1 conversion scale.

The rrp on the Sigma 10-20 is $730 See Here
$599 sounds good given that the Zuiko is wider, smaller and lighter.

Street price at B&H in NYC looks like being $499 (though that probably doesn't include local sales taxes). According to the fourthirdsphoto page $600 is the estimated street price for the Oly - which actually isn't that much of a premium to pay for an OEM and system dedicated lens. Of course whether similar margins will apply in rip-off Britain is another matter entirely...........

Hi Nigel,
The Sigma is very attractive at the price, I imagine thats why it's long been a favourite in other mounts.
I'd certainly consider the Zuiko myself. Although I have the 11-22 the weight saving and compact dimensions together with the wider angle of view of the 9-18 make it attractive.

Definitely. The added bonus is that it delivers fine image quality into the bargain.
For anyone using the smaller Olys I reckon the new 9-18 might well be a better bet... The Sigma is not exactly compact or lightweight and pretty chunky even on my D30/20D bodies - on a lightweight camera like the E4xx or E5xx it could well be more than a touch unbalanced...
