Ring flash

I have recently purchased a 105mm micro Nikkor lens, since it arrived I have hardly taken it off my D80, it's great. Anyway I now fancy a ring flash for close up and macro, can anyone give me any advice as to the effectiveness and range of these, the price of the sigma version looks good to me.
