F5 and flash.
      #704251 - 09/09/2008 23:15

I am just in the process of getting a F5 35mm.

I was wondering if I could use my SB 600 flash on it.......

Oh Rick, you've not been tempted have you? I saw that ad, didn't think it would take too long to snare someone!

Yes the SB600 will work fine with a F5, and will provide TTL flash (but not the i-TTL or D-TTL modes).

The SB600 works just fine on my F5 bodies, why wouldn't it?

Not really researched the F5 GeoffR, just jumped in and bought one,so did not know if it would ,so I asked rather than google and perhaps not get the right answer,or try it out and blow something....

Sorry my comment was a bit flippant, however, you might like to look at pages 8 and 9 of the SB600 manual as well as page 76 the latter of which deals specifically with using the SB600 with the F5. There is a lot more in the manual too but it does make it clear that the SB600 is compatible with a wide range of Nikon bodies including the FA, FE and F3.

Enjoy your F5.
