Jacobs list the lens, it in not shown as being out of stock, although the f1.4 is shown as out of stock. Priced at £78.99.

i phoned up jacobs and they said it was out of stock. if it is such a popular lens you would think nikon would make more. but if the lens is as good as they say it is then maybe they lose money on it?? hence the short suppply?

Reflex Cameras in Aylesbury (formerly Photo Optix) had one in its window this morning for £89.

Locally Charles Eagles of Sunderland normally carry this lens as a stock item, but I have not visited Sunderland recently. It might be worth contacting them to find out, note they close on Wednesday afternoons (they are quite a traditional retailer).

I was chuckling to myself about this only yesterday. Having not long bought a D3 I thought a 50mm would be an interesting addition to my bag. I've not been near such a lens since my last film camera, which as some will remember was usually the lens a body came with. Bought mine from Calumet in Edinburgh (£79.00), the last one they had, and to indicate their current popularity, someone phoned up about ten minutes later also looking for one. The sales assistant told me Calumet had sold over a hundred in the last month or so. I can only suspect the sudden upsurge in interest is down to the introduction of Nikon full frame. Anyway, try Calumet. By the way, things look great through it!!

I love my 50mm f1.8, not so much for the speed, but for the shallow depth of focus.
The only problem I find is when I can't fit everything in frame, and my back's against a wall. Still, can't have everything.

I got mine without any hassle...
Im hoping that there is another reason for it. Nikon have got a press release at the end of the month to my knowledge, this plus low stocks could mean theyve cut production as they are going to finally release an af-s variant!

Local dealer D&P Photographic (Gosforth, near Newcastle) had one this morning, unusually also a used 35mm f2 AF, although the price ticket was transposed with that of a 35mm f2 AIs.
