Nikon D3 price drop?
      #736301 - 01/12/2008 20:45

With the launch of the D3x is it likely the price of a D3 will reduce much past its current price of £2,500?

What do people think?

Yours hopefully!!

Andrew.

Different market surely? With the Pound doing the dropping, somehow I doubt it at present (and quite possibly one reason the D3x is so expensive).

The D3x is more than double the price of the D3, £3000 more, so I don't think it will affect the price of the D3. If anything, it makes the D3 looks to be a real bargain.

Very little chance. The published price of the D3x will drop after a few weeks so long as the pound/yen doesn't fall any further. The £2,000 premium for the sensor when Sony offer the (same?) sensor in a camera for the same amount doesn't seem sustainable beyond the early adopters.
