Noisy SB600

Is it normal for an SB-600 to emit a high pitched whine with new batteries?

It is brand new so wanted to check, incase I should send it back!

The whine is the noise of the flash charging.

Nothing to worry about unless dogs from the neighbourhood start following you around

Completely normal.

All flashes make a nasty wine when they charge up, and then it sends out a burst every now and again to remind you its on.
