Just thought i would share peeps. I folded under the weight of waiting and purchased a new D60 today from Jessops....Wow what do all these buttons do ???
Had to get the 4GB SDHC Card and reader from Curry's thou as Jessops wouldn't play when i asked for some money off Oh well
So far i am very impressed with her.. Any hints or tips to get me off to a running start ?
Oh and switching it on isn't considered a tip

Set sharpening to +1, contrast to +1. Get a polarising filter, don't be afraid to use ISO400. Have fun

Enjoy yourself.
Best advice is to be critical of yourself and to be patient. Learn the camera inside, its strengths and weaknesses and it will improve your use of it.
I have a D40 on my desk sitting next to a D200. It's almost quite funny (the massive difference is size, especially with an mbd200 attatched!)

I got my D60 last week also. Now on the toilet I read my manual instead of doing the crossword puzzle. I'm glad I'm not constipated, cause it's going to take alot of reading!

I'm using the 2GB SD card. Should I be using a different one?
Mainly I've been taking pics of my daughter's softball team and such. Not much to look at for the un-relatives. I might try Flickr if I get something worth sharing.
Yes I got the kit. Needed the long lense for the afore mentioned.
Trying to share with the other parents some pics of their kids also. Sometimes they can open them, sometimes not. Using ViewNX for that. Got any idea how to use the "index photo (single attachment)" thingy. Haven't firured that out yet. Help file seems to assume I know alot more that I really do.
I see a post above about shooting snaps at a wedding. I did that last weekend. I bought a seperate 2GB card and shot 241. I'm going to do some in-camera editing, save the results on my computer and then just give my friend the card, to do with as she sees fit. Kinda handy that.
I tell my friends that the D60 does everything for me but wipe my butt. After using it for a couple weeks, I think that if I press the right button, it might even do that.

2gb is fine i was just curious what you were using, I use 4gb sdhc cards.
I must admit to not using View NX much so i can't advice you on that one. I use Picasa & Adobe PhotoShop Elements.
"Trying to share with the other parents some pics of their kids also. Sometimes they can open them, sometimes not"
Are they trying to view the pictures from the SD card ?
Are they jpegs or Raw images ?
Ummm must admit i've sat on the loo taking pic's of the Bathroom...........And nothing else cause i aint got a Macro lense yet

No, I'm sending them in emails.jpegs (I think) What's frustrating, is that some seem to have no problem, while others do. So, I'm can't be sure if it's them, or me.
Just looked at your Flickr. You seem to know what your doing. I hope I can get something that I like.

Opening JPEGS... ah, wonder if anyone knows the answer? If I shoot RAW and edit, saving as 8-bit JPEGs using PS Elemnts, MS Photo editor will open them OK, but MS Paint will not. If I then edit them in MS Photo editor and save them without actually doing anything to them, Paint will then open them OK. Is it dodgy MS software (again) or something else?

I would open a Flickr account and click the Share this option and enter the family E-Mail Address.
Thanks for the comment but i have a Looooooong way to go compared to some members pic's.
I must admit if i alter a picture in Elements it saves it in..Photoshop PSD/PDD but you can change that to other formats....IE JPeg's Well spotted IET
