Hi all, after purchaing my Dynax 7D just over 18 months ago, it has finally decided to stop funtioning after my warranty period finished. my problem sounded a lot like a previous posting dated 2005. Essentially, my problme is as follows: When trying to take a picture, everything seems to work as expected until I fully depress the shutter, and nothing happens. No picture taken, no warnings, no beeps. Nothing. A year ago, when I first had this problem happen, it was very intermittent and the problem was resolved by turning the camera off then on again. So I never bother taking the camera back for warranty repair as it was resolvable and I needed to take pictures to earn my pocket money. However, after Christmas, after leaving the camera off for a couple of weeks, I tried turning it on and taking a picture last night, then the same ‘freezing’ problem happened again, but this time, it didn’t get resolved by turning off then on. I’ve changed batteries, lenses, memory cards, flash on/off, anti-shake on/off, RAW/JPEG format, but nothing makes a difference. It’s just not recording an image at all.
Can someone please help if they know what the problem is, as it seem a common fault judging by a previous posting. Can also also recommend a good place to repair KM digital cameras?
Thanks! Hope someone can help. Michelle

Link to Minolta repair specialist.
Certain faults are still repaired free by Sony if they are caused by know faulty made parts. Worth checking with Sony - link here.

There was a manufacturing fault on some 7D and 5D camera called 'black frame failure' KM and Sony honoured out of warranty repairs on this fault, I don't know if it is what you are suffering from.

This does sound like an extreme case of the first black frame problem, this is caused by a manufacture fault with a component in the auto focus charge assembly, my 7D was just out of warranty but it was repaired free of charge as it was a known manufacture fault. I took mine to JP Service Solutions at Johnsons-Photopia
My 7D has been faultless since this repair, Good luck

7D's freezin' up??? Has hell frozen over???
Now seriously, I have had my A1 serviced way past it's years as there was an issue with the CCDs in them. I still think they haven't done much to it but I do see an improvement.
