And most of them are going for insane prices!

Some of the prices are more than new if you shop around! Bizzare...

Cheers,
James

I have noticed this too! I think some people get a bit carried away with "sniping"(last minute bids) and I often see things im hopeing to get at a bargin go for more than their new price

I buy and sell on ebay and just laugh at the last minute bids sometimes.

Can anyone explain this?

Sometimes as a seller you don't know if its worth bothering.

Agreed,

I was after a Cokin P circular polariser. It went for £41 (advertised as 'used' too).

I sold a Sigma 70-300 macro II last year that I'd bought dirt cheap just to sell on, and it actually sold for more than the new RRP. You'd think folk would do a little homework wouldn't you?

I wonder how much of this is down to misused sniping software?

I guess if it's not set it up properly with sensible limits there's a danger of it just keeping going 'til it wins...........

I've been looking at a speedlight for my 20d and 2nd hand ones are nearly as much as new ones. I thought you were supposed to get "bargains" on ebay

The trouble with ebay is that a lot of people don't know when to stop, this pushes prices unreasonably high. Have a look at www.fatfingers.com the easy way to find some bargins..

LOL, I did the same thing, buying a £280 X800 graphics card for my PC, decided I didn't like ATI products so I sold it again on ebay, put it as buy it now £240 and it sold in the end for £292 :-)

Some people are born stupid, or born ebay addicts to carry on bidding past the buy it now price

FRANKLY I WOULD AVOID ! I purchased from the Canon Outlet (its listed on Ebay, but be WARNED too pay you go to an Exterior link, and are therfor not covered under the "normal" PayPal&Ebay (combined terms) when entering into a dispute.
This apparantly is NOT "Canon" (?) and all the call centres are foreign based, Romania (very poor english) or international call rate to Ireland.
I had many parts missing, (and the item was cosmeticaly damaged too.)
Have recived NO support, and Canon UK & Canon Europe are NOT interested, as the outlet store is "nothing to do with us" ???
*NOTE* the serial numbers are VOID too, they wont register, so I suspect these items will only be dealt with by, youve guessed it the Canon Outlet.
, consider that its bought as described with No back up (anyting else then is a bouns)
I am sure that with the lack of a proper warranty with Canon, and other deals widely available, this Canon Outlet is Not worth the risk

and Canon UK & Europe will have nothing to do with them.

What a load of old tosh. I've registered quite a lot of serial numbers with Canon of items I've bought this way without the slightest hitch.

They make it VERY clear that it's actually Digital River running this on Canon's behalf, not Canon themselves - only an idiot could be unclear about that.

^WHS^

Although I've not seen canon outlet selling anything for a while, I bought an A530 that turned out to have a date fault, but both Canon and the Scottish repair outlet were happy to help, and it was fixed under warranty in under a day

As for support, I emailed digital river, and they pointed me in the direction of Canon.
