Hi Folks
Whilst I am familiar with the various methods of converting a digital colour image to mono I can find very little information regarding the inkjet printing of the image to achieve the best quality. I have 2-Epson 1290's, one of which I am prepared to dedicate to monochrome. Your comments would be appreciated.

You can get monochrome continuous ink systems from Lyson but you'd have to check to see if they're compatible with your printer.

Many thanks. I am conducting tests at the moment using the Lyson Quad Black cartridge which replaces the standard colour cartridge. Paper plays a big part as well and I get a nice worm tone from Omnijet which is reminiscent of Bromesko. I am finding the viewing illumination important too as they appear much better in daylight. Unfortunately, club competitions are viewed by halogen lighting which tends to appear to have a magenta bias. Ron

Metamerism. It's all to do with how various papers and inks appear under different light sources. I don't pretend to know the first things about it For mono work I like Ilford's baryta based matt fb paper, it gives results very much like a darkroom print, though can be a little delicate as regards scratches and scuffs etc.
