A once in a lifetime chance to win a £7,000 Leica Special Edition camera.

Ffordes Photographic is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion the company has joined forces with Amateur Photographer to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a Leica M9 Special Edition and 35mm f/2 Asph chrome lens worth more than £7,000!

ABOUT THE LEICA M9 SPECIAL EDITION

The Leica M9 is the world’s first digital rangefinder camera with a full-frame (24x36mm) sensor. The 18-million-pixel sensor is specifically designed to enable capture of full 35mm-film-format images. Measuring just 139x37x80mm, the Leica M9 maintains the compact size of the M8, and is the world’s smallest full-frame system camera.

Although it is small, it is also tough. Its one-piece, full-metal housing – made from high-strength magnesium alloy – is very robust and, combined with solid brass top and bottom plates, provides perfect protection for the camera in all photographic situations. It all adds up to absolute reliability over decades of use.

Only three Leica M9 Special Edition models have been made. And one of them is on offer in this token-collect competition!

HOW TO ENTER

All you have to do is collect six of the eight individually numbered tokens that will appear in Amateur Photographer magazine. The first token is already printed in the 21 May issue. ABOUT FFORDES

Ffordes Photographic opened for business back in 1960 and was founded by Reg Byford. In the early ’80s his son Steve joined the company, selling on the shop floor, and took over the running of the firm when his father died. The company was originally based in Essex, but moved to the Highlands 2001 and is located in what was a derelict church just outside Beauly called The Kirk. It houses not only Ffordes Photographic, but also Beauly Gallery, which is run by Steve’s daughter Cherry. Upstairs, Steve works alongside his son Ross and five other experienced members of the Ffordes team. The Kirk has been converted into a beautiful and useful building once again, and the gallery and coffee shop downstairs complement Ffordes upstairs, as both are run with enthusiasm, offer great service and promise a warm Highland welcome. Ffordes will be running a charity auction in August 2011 with over £10,000 worth of Photographic products for sale with all proceeds going to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
